Abstract
The purpose of this study was twofold: (a) to investigate whether gross motor gain scores achieved during intensive intervention were maintained once intervention was withdrawn, and (b) to investigate whether fine motor skills which were not a focus of intervention had been affected by the gross motor intervention. Pre- to posttest gross motor gains failed to continue once the intensive program was withdrawn. However, quotient scores were maintained without significant declines during the testing period. There were no significant differences between pre- and posttest scores for fine motor quotients for either year. These findings suggest the need for longitudinal studies of therapy and motor skill instruction.
