Abstract
To stop arson there is an army of dedicated professionals rivaling in size all our military forces .... Why, then, is arson still such a disaster? It is a disaster because it is the one aspect of America's fire problem which most badly needs a combined approach, involving profes sionals and the public working together. Yet, each of us seems to look at arson in a different way, and in doing so we lose track of a common, achievable objective. We have defined our own jobs too narrowly.'
