Abstract
An important element of Hinduism is the attitude of detachment from suffering and attachment to God. Death is seen as a rebirth, in that the present life of an individual influences the course of the life to come. Certain practices with regard to food, drink and cleanliness are important, and their observation contributes to a Hindu's peace of mind.
