Abstract
The profession of management involves directing social as well other activities. But the manager as a practical sociologist usually has a purely technical training. In Czechoslovakia nearly 60 per cent of the works directors have this type of qualification. Sociological research on this social group provides evidence in favour of postgraduate studies in the theory of management, planning, sociology and psychology. The best way of achieving this qualification is through graduate studies, which enable the transfer of the most recent scientific knowledge and the exchange of the most recent practical experience in a relatively short time to the most suitable recipients who are then able to implement sociological theory immediately in practical life.
