Abstract
The peroperative discovery of a venous cavernous haemangioma covering the sapheno–femoral junction, presents a serious problem to the unsuspecting surgeon, due to lack of preoperative preparation and an unawareness of the connections of the vascular tumour. Only an experienced vascular surgeon can handle the problem without performing further invasive investigations and, consequently, a second operation. The fact that we have not found a similar case in the medical literature, encouraged us to describe the operation performed and to point out the possible pre- and per-operative complications.
