Abstract
This article presents an overview of mass media organization and use in Sweden, and the changes currently taking place in the wake of developments in media technology such as satellites and cable TV. Levels of diffusion of home electronic appliances and patterns of use of newspapers, radio, broadcast television, Teletext, VCRs, cable TV and satellite TV are presented, as well as for personal computers. The chances of survival for some form of `public service' broadcasting are discussed, and it is concluded that its future in Sweden is uncertain.
