Abstract

This book is written by four authors who have divided their work into two chapters each to create a blend of an academic and informal approach accessible to anyone who is interested in enhancing their digital academic profile. Written for experienced or inexperienced digital scholars, the handbook has a useful introduction as to the why and how to approach the reading of the book, followed by an introductory chapter on the fundamentals of digital agility: ‘getting involved in research, education (and community) service, mobilising digital skills on various levels, and acting in multiple roles, both individually and interlinked with others’ (p. 13). The subsequent five chapters focus on specific roles and skills needed to evolve as a digital scholar and are divided into Chapter 2, ‘The Digital Scholar as Author’, Chapter 3, ‘The Digital Scholar as Storyteller’, Chapter 4, ‘The Digital Scholar as Creator’, Chapter 5, ‘The Digital Scholar as Integrator’ and Chapter 6, ‘The Digital Scholar as Networker’, while the final two chapters focus on approaches for professional development and the potential for the future for digital scholars.
