Abstract
Reviews the task of providing adequate newspaper information services to meet the demands of 21st century Tanzania. Defines what is meant by newspaper information, and outlines the present situation of the provision of newspaper information in Africa and mainland Tanzania. Discusses the problems of providing access to newspaper information and the newspaper services provided by libraries in Tanzania. Analyses the challenges for newspaper information in Tanzania in the 21st century, and provides recommendations in respect of: newspaper collections; staff; indexing and press cutting; preservation and conservation; cooperation; equipment and the introduction of new technology.
