Abstract
There has been a considerable growth in the analysis of and interest in implementing information polices in Europe and world-wide. This article examines the development of a National Information Policy in Greece. Its future decisions and actions towards the development of a National Information Policy and its participation in the European Information Society, will affect in a negative or positive way many aspects of its international and social life. The research was based upon interviews with twenty-three people from Ministries, institutions and organizations related or influencing aspects of the National Information Policy. The result of this research demonstrates that, although there have been some encouraging important recent initiatives, there is no coordinated approach to a Greek National Information Policy and that policies are lacking in some key areas. Recommendations for policy initiatives are made.
