Most archival institutions in Africa have concentrated on historical records and are not involved with day-to-day records management. Problems of records management in Africa include: lack of resources; poor management; inappropriate staff and training; lack of tools and techniques. Suggested solutions include: more support from top management; change in attitudes among archivists; better staff and training; development of new tools and techniques; revision of archival legislation.
