When China began to carry out its policy of
reform and opening up to the outside world, the
rapid development of the national economy and
science and technology called for the
development of scientific and technical
information activities. One of the most
significant trends in the development of modern
scientific and technical information activities in
the world is the application of advanced
information technologies. Outlines China's
efforts in utilizing information techology to
facilitate and accelerate the development of
scientific and technical information activities
and its future development strategies in the
application of information technology in the
scientific and technical information field, which
place special emphasis on the construction and
development of nationwide online information
system, the creation and development of
databases and the development of the
telecommunications infrastructure.
