Rapid developments are taking place in the
libraries of Thailand as the government becomes
aware of the role of information in the
development of the country. New equipment for
computerization is becoming commonplace and
IT has now become a topic of discussion in the
newspapers. In this atmosphere it seemed
worthwhile to capture the status of IT in the
main institutions in Bangkok so that growth may
be measured in the future. This survey is a quick
snapshot of the present situation which will
change very rapidly in the forthcoming months.
Thirteen libraries in eight institutions in Bangkok
were surveyed by questionnaire and personal
visits.
