Paper based on a Workshop on Interlending in
the Caribbean held in Martinique on 14 May
1988. Interlending in the Caribbean is not
organized on a regional basis. The region has
considerable need of document supply and
interlending services but the necessary
structures are not all present to create a
properly organized system, nor is there any
indication of the likely demand, the needs of
libraries or the resources available. Some
work needs to be done to establish some
facts and suggestions are made for a way
forward to improve matters. It is suggested
that what is said about the Caribbean region
may well be of relevance to other regions
contemplating an interlending network.
