Many libraries and documentation centres in
the Third World have introduced
microcomputers as a first step towards
automation. A number of microcomputer
projects at the Main Library, University of the
West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and
Tobago, provide the background for a
consideration of hardware selection criteria,
installation and maintenance of
microcomputer systems, hardware
appropriateness, output requirements,
software, the role of user groups, systems
documentation and training.
