The background to the establishment of the Department of Library Studies, University of Botswana, is described. Details are provided of the Department's Certificate, Diploma and postgraduate programmes and information about the various countries in Southern, Central and Eastern Africa which regularly send students to the Department. A long vacation 'Summer School'-type programme is offered for librarians from the region.
