Kenya experienced a great loss of official documentation during the colonial period. After independence, it was therefore decided to establish an archives service. However, poor management decisions threatened to distort priorities during specific periods. Despite the valuable contribution of consultants to the development of the National Archives, their assessments have often been based on ill-informed or biased opinions.
