Abstract
In academic language, peace is treated as an area study. The School of Peace Studies at the University of Bradford, is the only university department in Britain exclusively concerned with the study of peace. It concentrates on five areas: peace theory, nuclear and non-nuclear defence, relations between economically developed and developing countries, industrialized societies, and regions in conflict. The School issues three kinds of publications: Peace Studies Papers, Peace Research Reports and Briefings. There are objections to peace studies, but there would be an extraordinary failure by academics if they did not study the conditions of contemporary peace.
