Information Services in the Eastern Pilbara

Abstract

The eastern Pilbara region of Western Australia is a large area with a small population isolated from major urban centres. Limited facilities for transport and communication hinder information delivery. The financial resources of the information agencies in the region vary and this affects the provision that can be made. Cooperation among libraries in the region is having a positive effect. The activities of public libraries, a community college library, and a mining company information service are described.
