Information Policy in India and China

Abstract

A comparative survey of the development of national information infrastructures and the formulation of national information policy in India and China. The influence of foreign mod els, traditions of library and information work, indigenous development, language and patterns of information use is discussed and the existing organisational structures for sci entific and technological information are comp ared. The policy implications of introducing modern information technology are considered.
