Abstract
Edited version of a paper presented at a Panel Session on ‘Centralization or Decentralization: Best Practices for Organizing and Managing Development Information’ during a meeting of the Working Group on Information Management of the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI) held in Paris, France on 25 September 1997. Discusses the globalization of information, the development of the World Wide Web and the continuing information gap between countries in North and South. Describes the role of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH in organizing and providing development information. Offers the author’s personal conclusions and recommendations for improving the delivery of development information, particularly to countries in the South.
