Abstract
Describes CAB International’s Information for Development (IFD) Programme, a new initiative which brings together all the organization’s activities relating to capacity building, information supply and publishing for developing countries, which are completely separate from the main publishing business. In describing the programme, emphasis is placed on the advantages of being able to operate as an international and ‘membership’ organization, and of developing activities in partnership with others. The three main components of the programme: capacity building, sponsored supply of information products and services, and development of new publications and information services, are described in detail, illustrated by specific examples.
