Outlines the three-stage strategy adopted by the Centre for Research and Information Exchange in Ecologically Sound Agriculture (ILEIA) to identify and improve contacts with readers of the ILEIA Newsletter: (a) a strategic grouping of readers; (b) an experimental use of reader focus groups (c) a survey of readers. Describes the patterns of readership revealed by the survey.
