Education for librarianship and information studies: fit for purpose?: Supporting serendipity?

Abstract

An issue that has largely been ignored by LIS researchers is that of the impact on research findings of access to library stacks and serendipity. It brings into question the support that libraries offer to researchers, and how much is taught to students about how researchers work.
