Abstract
Paper presented at the 26th annual meeting of the Information Management Working Group of the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI), 1215 September 2001, Bordeaux, France, on the subject of ‘Value and quality of development information’. (An earlier version was presented at the previous meeting, September 2000, Bergen, Norway.) Considers the problem of quality control for libraries and information services in the information-for-development sector based on a small questionnaire survey undertaken in 2001. The literature on quality management demonstrates that it comprises six stages. Planned quality control makes it possible to verify assumptions in providing quality information and to set up an accurate management tool. An abridged version of quality management can also be applied in small documentation centres.
