Abstract
Intelligent software agents have been around in some form for at least five years. What is new is the way they are being applied to the Web. This paper clarifies for a non-technical audience what software agents really are. It explains some of the underlying technologies with particular reference to the use of agents in knowledge management and information retrieval. It describes the CK1 Company Briefing Pack; a practical application of agent software developed to meet the requirements of a major investment bank.
