Abstract
Examines the necessity for business information professionals to take in hand their own personal development in seeking to guide their careers through the rapid technological changes that are taking place in the information industry. Companies are increasingly demanding a wider skills base in their workers and this creates both new pressures and new opportunities for the information profession, particularly in the field of knowledge management. Knowledge management promises to bring information and intelligence to the heart of the business process.
