Abstract
Developing technologies and a changing market-place are already having a significant impact on information workers (not necessarily drawn from the ranks of today's librarians). Tomorrow's information professional will be less passive, more committed than his traditional counterpart and he will have other functions to perform. He will be required to exercise a different kind of professional judgement in a role of increased demands. He needs to remain flexible to developing possibilities in the information industry and adopt a new attitude towards the use of his skills while the industry changes.
