Satisfying the information needs of a large international company has become a complex and highly specialised activity. A simple literature search or a few published papers are often insufficient to answer the specific requirements of many enquirers. Information Services at ICI Wilton have tried to meet the challenge by producing business intelligence reports. These are reviews of collated and assessed information tailor-made to answer specific enquiries. This paper outlines our approach to writing such reports.
