Abstract
Dr. Tan Chwee-Huat is currently Dean of the Faculty of Accountancy and Business Administration and an associate professor at the National University of Singapore. As part of its modernisation programme China has implemented numerous economic reforms since the late 1970s, encouraging the development of entrepreneurs in agriculture, commerce and industry. Most of the new entrepreneurs have started by engaging in some sideline activities and gradually developing specialisation in these sidelines. This paper briefly examines some aspects of new entrepreneurial developments in China.
