The relative merits of traditional articulation therapy and phonological
approaches to the treatment of 'cleft palate speech' are discussed. It is
suggested that contrary to customary clinical practice, phonological
therapy is an appropriate and in some instances essential procedure in such
cases. Two case studies are described in support of this proposal.
