Abstract
This research examined the association between attachment styles and the willingness to compromise, when choosing a mate, among 111 single male students. As expected, results indicated that anxious–ambivalent participants exhibited less willingness to compromise than secure and avoidant individuals, who exhibited a similar, higher level of willingness to compromise. The results are discussed in terms of the different mental self representations and decision-making strategies characteristic of each attachment style.
