Abstract
This is a personal view of educational provision up to school leaving age for children and young people who are multiply disabled and visually impaired (MDVI) in Scotland. It considers current school placement and curriculum, with an indication of future developments in the 16 plus curriculum. Early intervention and the issues affecting it are mentioned as well as the importance of the dissemination of current research on the causes and effects of cortical/central visual impairment. The wider United Kingdom and European dimension are mentioned, especially the implications for staff development.
