Abstract
The merger in 1988 of Chorleywood College for Girls with Little or No Sight and Worcester College for the Blind was one of a series of major projects undertaken by the RNIB to improve the facilities and services which it provides. In this account, the leader o f the architectural team outlines the design considerations and the consultative process involved in providing new and refurbished buildings for the merged college at Worcester. The author's experience o f the consultative process includes projects in the UK, France, West Africa and the Middle East. His current work, for a wide range of people with special needs, covers housing improvement projects, medical facilities and buildings for people with special physical and visual requirements.
