The author has spent two years as a French lecteur at St. John's College, Oxford. Contact with blind students inspired the scheme he describes for setting up in Oxford a new type o f cultural holiday for the blind. What follows is an adapted reprint of an article which first appeared in the Oxford Magazane, No. 13, Michaelmas Term 1986.
