Abstract
The background to the establishment of the Research Centre for the Education of the Visually Handicapped is described, and this is followed by summaries of the major projects that have been carried out since 1970. Much of the work is undertaken as a result of discussions with teachers and social workers, with the result that there is a very strong practical bias to the Centre's investigations. These projects are set against a broader framework of more theoretical investigations, and the Centre's commitment to dissemination of information is also made clear.
