Abstract
Research focusing on advocacy efforts of Latinx parents of children with deafblindness is limited. The present phenomenological study explored the reported advocacy of Latinx parents and the effectiveness of those advocacy efforts. Five Latinx parents who immigrated to the United States and who had children with deafblindness who were elementary- or middle-school aged were interviewed. The researchers analyzed verbatim transcripts to identify themes regarding the effectiveness of parental advocacy efforts. Themes focused on advocacy efforts that were unsuccessful, resulted in mixed results, and were successful for these parents and their children.
