Gwyneth Boswell presents the key results from her research into Section 53 offenders during the 1990s, which found high levels of abuse and/or loss amongst this unusual group of offenders. She explores the implications for assessment and intervention, arguing that a knowledge of relevant research is an essential prerequisite to focused and effective practice.
