Una Hamill, Sandra Hayward, Paul Wynn & Pat Craven, all Probation Officers in the Merseyside Domestic Violence Unit, outline the key elements of the Merseyside Probation Service's Domestic Violence Groupwork Programme, and highlight a number of factors which the authors have found to be essential in its successful establishment. Key among these are commitment and support from the Service; time and facilities to plan and develop a programme; evaluation; interagency liaison; and, most importantly, support for women.
