Abstract

Seriously disturbed people charged with minor offences are still becoming caught up in the criminal justice system. Stephen Blumenthal and Dr Simon Wessely of Kings College Hospital, with Penny Soper of Hertfordshire Probation Service, report on their 1992 survey of psychiatric assessment schemes in England and Wales.
