Abstract
Based on their experience of working in a Bail Centre, Terry Nixon and Ann Pearson reflect on some of the difficulties Probation Service residential workers experience in working with people charged with sex offences, and offer some strategies for managing such bailees in the months before their Court appearance, whilst acknowledging the ambiguity of their unconvicted status and partial admissions to staff prior to court. Whether convicted or not, many clients experience acute loss, disorientation and grief.
