The association of drinking with offending is one familiar to probation officers. Agencies and organisations in the area of alcohol abuse have been critical of the lack of a positive approach by POs to assisting offenders with drink problems. Here the authors outline the philosophy and practice of a structured approach to dealing with such offenders.
