Abstract
The contributions in this section have been written with Conference in mind, but we hope they will be of interest to attenders and non- attenders alike. They include: discussions of the future of NAPO; the relationship between professional and wider political and social issues; the place of community service and the principles of 'alterna tives to custody'; comments on the immigration laws. Finally, there are two pieces in lighter vein: reminiscences of conferences past, and some first-hand information about what to do in Bournemouth when you're not engrossed in Conference business.
