A classical gravimetric procedure (spring balance) and a simple immersion calorimeter have been used for the investigation of benzene adsorption from the gaseous phase on to nine active carbons at 293.2 K. The Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich and Dubinin-Astakhov equations have been chosen for describing the equilibrium data. Comparison with the integral inmersion heats demonstrates that only the Dubinin-Radushkevich parameters are consistent with thermodynamic principles.
