Application of Activated Carbon to Decolouration in the Sugar Industry. Part II. Investigations of Equilibrium and Adsorption Kinetics

Abstract

The adsorption kinetics of the decolouration of technical sugar solutions (thin juice) on activated carbon have been investigated in order to construct a kinetic model which describes internal diffusion in adsorbent granules. It was found that the process is best described by a model including both diffusion in the pores and surface diffusion.
