The textural properties of densely covered alkyl-bonded silicas have been determined and compared with the properties of the corresponding bare silicas. Whereas no significant changes in granulometry were noted, mercury intrusion curves and nitrogen sorption isotherms show that the modifications induced in the pore volumes, as well as in the mean pore radii, are consistent with grafting of a monolayer of hydrocarbon chain.
