Abstract
This article reports on a study of cross-cultural leadership. Tentative Native American leadership values are derived from interviews and field experiences with a number of tribes from the Great Plains. Six themes were identified which characterize Native American leadership values within the tribal cultures explored: decentralized leadership; the immanent value of all things; a value of non-interference; a self-deflecting image projection; Indian time or the reduced sense of the importance of time; and a collectivist decision-making approach.
