Abstract
Frank Wai Ming Tam and Yin Cheong Cheng are both at the Hong Kong Institute of Education. This article is one of the reports of an ongoing research project on education quality within Hong Kong schools in which they are engaged. From a wide-ranging survey of primary schools the authors found that school environments as perceived by teachers and students could be classified into four types, of which the synergetic was the most promising in terms of effectiveness.
