Abstract
This article examines the introduction and evolution of the Strategic Management Process in the Further Education sector. This is done in the light of a critique of the transfer of management models from the business sector to Further Education; a theoretically informed review of related policy literature; and a detailed longitudinal case study of cultural change in one college embarking upon Incorporation. Implications of the analysis are explored for Further Education, for the possible reconceptualization of the Strategic Management Process and for the related theoretical literature.
