A laboratory test rig has been designed to test the detailed response properties of a three-state switchable damper as used in advanced suspension systems. The rig allows any displacement input profile to be applied at one end of the damper with the other end fixed. Both force and displacement characteristics were measured and detailed results of hysteresis and switching time delays are presented.
