Foam carpet backing improves sound and heat insulation and provides the carpet with additional elasticity. The complete contact that it gives with the floor prolongs wear and gives the carpet luxury value.
This paper describes foam systems, in practical use, based on polyurethane and rubber latex chemistry. The different application techniques are explained and the resulting foam properties are compared.
